Why should you create a blog? Other than, perhaps, the fact that everyone is doing it. But seriously, the reasons behind creating a blog can be many. I, for instance, create blogs to help me earn a living. There are others that are not worried about monetizing their blog, they just have something to say and want some place to say it. But whatever the reason, in the past few years, the creation of blogs has exploded. You can make your blog entertaining, serious, fun or like I do, for making money. There are a few things you need to do. Let's get started.

A good hosting program is a prerequisite for blog success, unless, of course, you blog on Blogger.com or Wordpress.com, which give you free hosting for your blog. Hosting is where your blog resides to be viewed by the internet community. A host is someone that will allow you to use their web space for your blog. Number one, find a good host. Not all hosting companies are created equal. What you want in a host is one that is very user friendly, depending on your level of knowledge and how much time you want to spend creating and updating your blog.

Using Wordpress seems to be the method of choice for the majority of those who chose to build their blog, from the virtual ground up. If this is you, you should choose to get hosting with c-panel and fantastico for ease of use. Wordpress and it's plug-ins allow for personalization, making it easy to add entries, pictures and other things to your blog. Some, even allow embedded video, which can be really fun.

Once you get your blog up and running, the most important thing you can do, is to be sure to post regularly. This is especially true if you are trying to monetize your blog. If you just put it up and never do anything with it, creating your blog will have been a waste. Looking for readers that that you don't know (those not in your friends or families circle), requires you to update your blog a minimum of several times a week. Keep in mind that it takes time for people to find you.

Your readers will keep coming back if you blog daily, if they like it they will bookmark it and soon you will have readers that look forward to what you have to say, that is, if you have something interesting for them to read. No one likes a blog that is boring. Get creative, have some fun and get out there and create a blog.
