I have known people who have gotten indexed quickly by posting a free ad on Craigslist which contained a link to their site or blog. Another great way is to go to pingomatic. Enter any name for your site or blog in the blog name box and paste your site's url in the blog home page box. Check all the common services to ping and then click 'send pings.' Some search engines robots should show up quickly.
