Do you like to have an icon created in every blog you visit, just for visiting those blogs? My Blog Log and Blog Catalog are two services that let you do just that. You have seen these two widgets running on several blogs. These widgets let you build a community connection, while doing nothing but visiting the blogs where the widgets are enabled.
My Blog Log introduced the concept of tracking readers. Bloggers who enable their widget at their blog could see other bloggers who have visited the blog. Of course, the bloggers should have a My Blog Log account. The bloggers need not keep My Blog Log window open, instead, the widget within the blog tracks your visit to the blog.
The widget can show small images of 'Recent Visitors' to the blog. Many people click on the small icons to find out more about the readers of the blog they regularly read.
Again, many bloggers have worries that the widget will take away their traffic. Your visitors have to leave your blog sooner or later, why not boast you have a good readership of amazing people and let your readers find their blogs too? I think this is better way for your visitors leave your blog than by simply closing the window.
With these widgets, you have one more reason to visit more of the blogs you really like. You are rewarded with more visitors to your blog, simply for visiting more blogs. Now, how much will it take to advertise your blog or website in all different blogs?
Blog Catalog is another service that lets you track visitors to your blogs and other blogs. In the widget, you can choose to display 2-16 'Recent Visitors'. If you use the widgets, make sure you enable displaying maximum number of recent visitors.
With these widgets, you can tell your readers that you are part of a big community, with amazing people reading your blog. You then pass on this feeling to your readers too, as they see their picture among a handful of other successful bloggers.
